Daisy and Orchid Canes
These
Daisy and Orchid (F15)
Canes are handmade by me (Jane Zhao). There are basic colors on each cane description. Most of the clay I use is Sculpey Premo polymer clay. Only the translucent part made with Sculpey III and Fimo clay to make the color lighter and more transparent.
I reduced their
diameter to half an inch
, and then cut each cane to
an inch length
. You can reduce them to any size you want. They are made or reduced fresh and uncured. I have some pictures to show you my designs, please use your creativity to make them more beautiful and interesting.
Production project:  I use a pasta machine to condition the base color of the clay, then slice the canes into a very thin pieces, over layer each other... make it smooth again and bake it.
The picture above is a cane from this batch, the others are from the same batch. They are cut by hand, so please allow me to have an error of 1 mm.
Premo! retains flexibility, so the finished product remains strong and durable.  It is very suitable for jewelry making, sculpting, indoor and outdoor home decoration.
Conditioning: Use a Pasta Machine to condition the clay.
Clay may stain.  Do not use on unprotected furniture surfaces.
Baking: Hardens in oven at 130C (275F) for 30 min per 6mm (1/4 in) thickness. Do not Microwave. Baking should be completed by an adult.
In 1997 I (Jane Zhao) started to use Premo! Polymer Clay.  I made many canes, home decorations...  My projects were featured on Polymer Café Magazine: 1st issue Fall/Winter 2002, Summer 2003, then Vol.2 No.3 Vol.5 No.2, Vol.8 No.3, Vol.8 No.6 and Vol.11 No.5.  Also in the Book: "400 Polymer Clay Designs"... In 2007 I became a "Studio Home Dimensions" Clay Regional Trainer chosen by Polyform and Donna Dawberry.
