Description
The HB Racing D819RS 1/8 Off-Road Nitro Buggy Kit is based on the race proven D819, and updated with the latest features developed by the HB Racing Team at race events around the world.The foundation for the D819RS starts with a redesigned 7075 aircraft aluminum chassis that gives the RS a more planted rear end with more stability and grip. The chassis is symmetrical for better balance and more consistent jumping and cornering. And it’s strategically machined to decrease weight and balance the flex characteristics. A machined aluminum center chassis brace that strengthens the center section of the car, and an updated chassis with countersunk mounting holes for the Updated brace.
The machined aluminum engine mount is a 1 piece design for simplicity, weight savings, and improved reliability. Mounting the engine and setting the gear mesh is easier than ever with the innovative asymmetric engine mount cams. A complete competition 3-shoe clutch is included, along with sintered brake pads and double ground brake discs for fade free braking and consistent brake feel. Fully adjustable brake/throttle linkage is standard, as well as a racing fuel tank with stone clunk, and a lightweight foam air filter. A convenient covered electronics box allows easy removal for cleaning and maintenance, and easy access to servos. Included is a redesigned flywheel that allows fitment of the latest engines, and the brake linkage now uses o-rings for improved reliability and more adjustability than springs.
Reliability has always been a trademark of the winning cars from HB Racing, and the D819RS continues that tradition. Up front are 17.5° caster blocks, now with M4 set screws for improved tightening and durability. Updated 1-piece steering block bushings are included for simplified tuning adjustments. Drivetrain refinements include redesigned front & rear diff pinion and center outdrive system for easier assembly and maintenance, and center drive dogbones. A heavy duty machined & lightened steel spur is included for added durability. The race-proven 4WD system uses tough sintered diff gears, precision machined steel input gears and spur gear, machined aluminum wheel hubs, and steel Universal Joints that are favored by our Team Drivers for improved performance on bumpy tracks.
The D819RS features the unique HB Racing monocoque suspension arms that allow fine tuning of the stiffness of the front and rear arms to suit track conditions and driving styles. Racers can adjust the grip and feeling of the arms using optional stiff arms and carbon plates to increase the torsional stiffness of the suspension arms, which gives the car a more forgiving feeling at the limit, especially on high-speed and high-traction corners.
The RS features the V3 rear shock tower that allows racers to adjust the wing height and body mount height. Also included are redesigned machined aluminum steering blocks with 2° inclined kingpins that split the difference between the previous stock 0° blocks and the optional 4° blocks. HB Racing big bore threaded coilover shock absorbers help soak up extreme bumps, jumps and potholes like HB Team Drivers found on the World Championship track in Australia. Revised rear shock shafts and lower eyelets offer improved durability. And, screw-type shock pins feature standard & reverse threads, and are color coded for easy identification. The D819RS suspension includes narrow hex hubs to help meet width regulations with most wheels, adjustable turnbuckles, front and rear sway bars with 1 piece links, hinge pin inserts for easy toe and anti-squat settings, machined aluminum caster blocks, machined aluminum steering blocks, and redesigned carbon graphite rear upright plates with improved geometry.
The D819RS steering system is built for durability and easy adjustment. For the RS, HB added a redesigned heavy-duty servo saver, utilizing a stronger spring and matching upper adjustment cap. The steering features an aluminum servo saver arm and clamping servo saver adjustment nut, steel turnbuckles, aluminum drag link, highly adjustable Ackerman geometry using steering knuckle plates, and CNC machined aluminum steering blocks. The D819RS includes aluminum front linkage geometry spacers that replace the plastic spacers for improved bumpsteer geometry, more precise adjustment, less flex, and revised the screw lengths to accommodate the redesigned spacers.
